The German Cover Letters are written according to DIN 5008 as all business letters in Germany usually are. The German CV, „der Lebenslauf“, is also supposed to be written within the DIN 5008 framework. To work thoroughly this two documents is the base for being called back for a job interview. As the Germans tend to complying norms you should adopt your formatting to the German requirements. The formatting standards are as follws:
Din 5008 Standards
- left margin: 24,1 mm
- right margin: at least 8,1 mm
- bottom margin: 16,9 mm
- top margin: 16,9 mm
